Quick Review—Logitech Slim Folio Pro for the 11

This will be a quick review without pics (not my usual). I say no pics because I’ve removed the case and don’t want to put it back on. Ordered from Apple online and will return to an Apple store.

My review: meh.

There are YouTube reviews on the case. Here are some pros and cons from my use case:

Pros:
Excellent keys. Travel is good, and the existence of the Apple specific keys is great. Good spacing.
Nice backlighting. 3 levels. In my closet it looked great.....:cool:
Nice magnetic latch. Holds the case closed with authority and also sticks around back out of the way in KB mode.
Keyboard magnetic lockup is 5 times what it needs to be. Very solid. This also activates the KB automatically and disconnects it when unattached.
Excellent fit (notwithstanding screen protector conflict below) and finish. Really like the soft suede like feel. Adds good grip too.
USB-C Charging.
Latch flap secures pencil—either against the iPad for charging, or in the “loop” built into the flap which does not allow contact with the iPad (the loop moves the pencil to centered on iPad/kB package).
Keys not rubbing on iPad when closed as best I can tell.
Plenty stable when on lap (strong magnetic keyboard positioning)-unless you cross your leg.

Cons:
Magnetic latch sticks out when using in tablet mode. It will stick to back of case part (not the kB), but then it makes the whole handful even thicker.
Case is more corner focused. Leaves most of top, bottom and pencil side exposed.
Attachment points of case (left side and right corners) encroach over to right at my Zagg Glass+ protector edges. Concerned it will cause lifting of the screen protector over time.
Brightness keys are only for the backlighting. Can’t adjust iPad brightness like you can on Apple Magic keyboard.
Doesn’t work in my lap since I always have one leg crossed.

Summary for me is—It’s probably one of the best options out there, but it conflicts with my Zagg protector, isn’t too stable in my lap, and for my 25% use case needing to type, I’ll use my Zugu case along with Apple Magic keyboard as i’m doing now for this review.

Yea it's a meh for me too. I received mine yesterday for my 11" and first thing that came to mind was that it's way thick although understandable.
 
Wow. That looks really thick. I love my 11" iPP and currently use it without a case because it is such a beautiful device to hold and use.

I have a Targus VersaVu case but it doesn't work with the Apple Pencil that I just bought. I fancy the Apple Smart Folio case but I don't like how the keyboard seems to be contacting with the screen. I wonder if the keys will end up damaging the screen like some MBPs have been seen to experience.

I just got mine today for the 12.9” 2018 Pro. My reaction is the same = meh.

Love the travel on the keys and the tactical feel so to speak.
The backlit keys are awesome, as well as the function keys.

However, I don’t like how thick it is. It’s gross, really.
I don’t like how there isn’t an official second viewing angle, at least that I’ve found.
Quite frankly, I’m underwhelmed and while I believe I need a keyboard, I’m not sure this is it. Haven’t yet tried the Apple Folio, save for in store, but I think I’d be frustrated by it as well.

Will give it a couple days and if I still can’t get past it’s shortcomings, it will probably go back.

It’s not for everyone. Just like the iphone is not for me (its meh) but the ipad is boss. :p

The apple folio case is pure trash. It’s worth 50 dollars if that. Does not feel like an official apple product.

I had a look at it in store at the weekend and yes, I thought that it was rubbish. Thin and light for sure but it just looked and felt cheap. It didn’t even stay stuck to the back either. Disappointing.

Looks like another good keyboard with another mediocre case solution from Logitech. After having three different of their keyboard cases break in less than two years, I’m not going to invest in the brand for a while.

Goes to show you how everyone’s experiences can be sooo different from everyone else’s. Ive had all 3 logitech cases for all 3 versions of the 12.9 and never had any issue with them and in ALL cases (no pun :) ) they were MUCH better than that trash apple put out as the official keyboard case. o_O :p
 
Got mine for the 12.9 and wow this keyboard is so much better than the official apple keyboard..yeah it’s certainly bulky but well worth it imo
 
I had mine for a couple of days now and im leaning towards to return it and get the ASK instead. Its the same form factor with my dinosaur lenovo’s netbook, same weight! Bought this @ BB for $119 vs ASK $169 (costco)
 
The Logitech slim folio pro has a great keyboard but its just way too bulky and heavy. Doubling the thickness and weight of the iPad Pro. Unless you absolutely need the backlight and function keys. I went back to Apple Smart Keyboard Folio. I also wish Logitech put more tech into the keyboard case. Theres no way to see the battery status on iOS battery widget. No included usb c cable. Its a pain to remove the iPad from the case, also takes a little while for the keyboard to connect and then you can finally start typing.

Bah, you answered a question I posed in another thread. The brightness keys are for the keyboard backlight, NOT the screen as it says on the Logitech website :(

The bulk wont bother me, I only use my 12.9” in landscape at home. Have an 11” for tablet/on the go usage.

Besides the ASK I picked up a Logitech keys to go. Fits in my Tomtoc sleeve WITH the iPad 11 in a Zugu case! Plenty for my occasional typing needs.

Yeah. At least I could not figure out how to make those keys operate the screen brightness…

I might have considered it if it was as easy to take out of as the Apple Folio keyboard is, because sitting on a desk typing I wouldn't care about the bulk, but for everything else the thickness would drive me nuts.

Agreee it’s built for laptop replacement and not anything portable

And yeah if you put it on I would say keep it on and not on and off
