Why would a .mov file not open in QT 10? I get this message:

The document “JR97B - CR1 Instructor.mov” could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands.

I'm running QT 10.0 and Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Any thoughts?

Maybe it's uses an unsupported codec like ProRes or MPEG-2 (if you install software like Final Cut Pro, these codecs are added).

But it might be a corrupt file. Download VLC and see if it can play the file, if it can't the file is corrupt. Because VLC plays everything. I once had an incomplete movie and it even played that (although it sometimes stuttered because parts were missing of course).
