Quicken installer won't open

I'm at wits end. I recently tried to open Quicken 2004 with no joy. I've had it installed and used it for years with no problems. Tried to reinstall the program from the CD but the installer wouldn't open. Eventually called their customer service and found it was no longer supported so I upgraded to 2007. Now am trying to install that with the same results. I have deleted 2004 version, deleted quicken preferences and .plist data, and have repaired permissions. I dragged the folder into Applications and clicked on the application and also tried to open it by clicking on my data file - it begins to open then shuts down (no crash message). I've no clue why or what to do next. I'm running 10.4.11 on a G4. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
