I have an investment account with Schwab which contains numerous sub-accounts.
In the past, I tried keeping track of these investments using Quicken and downloading all the transactions. However, the totals were always screwed up (for some reason the value of bonds never translated correctly from Schwab to Quicken and my account totals were meaningless). So I thought I'd try something new to simply give me a monthly snapshot of my investment total (since ultimately, I dont care about all the performance of all the individual securities).
I now a monthly basis, I get a "total asset" figure from my financial planner for a variety of accounts held at Schwab.
What I would like to do in Quicken is set up an account that I can track the changes of this figure month to month.
In other words, I'd like an account that each month I enter this total and then can show me how it changes over time.
Is there any way to do this? If so, can you tell me what type of account to set up and how, on a monthly basis, enter the new sum total as some sort of transaction? (I know I can just manually add or subtract the change in account value from month to month, but was just curious if there might be another way to do this).
Thanks.
