Or do I just have such a noname chipset it's not recognised? If so, the strategy needs a rethink...
 
No I dont think the USB2 bus is bootable regardless of the device. Kinda sucks, I hope Apple takes care of that
 
Whats interesting for me is if I hold option at startup it will display the System folder on my backup drive, but if I select it, it craps out after a bit.

Seems to me this could be fixed :confused:

There is quite a bit of ambiguity in the OS here, which prompted my ask.
