I'm sure a lot of you are probably already aware of this, but I'm posting this for those of you who aren't....as I come here a bit and was completely unaware.

Even Keeping PS open in the background locks my computer to using the discrete gpu (possible b/c I have that checked in preferances) so closing that alone saved me probably 1-2 hours...for those fellow photogs out there. Good luck...enjoy your macbooks.

Yes, gfxcardstatus has been discussed extensively in the forum. There are many other factors that also impact your battery life. See the BATTERY LIFE FROM A CHARGE section of the following link for details, including tips on how to maximize your battery life.
