Near a Mac since 1993.
Well, I upgraded my G4 DP500 to a Quicksilver 733 I was able to weasel from my shop.
I transfered my drives and PCI cards including my Adaptec SCSI 29160N card and IBM SCSI drive.
Only thing is that now the machine refuses to boot into X!
Adaptec's read me (in 9) says there is a fix for this, but their article is nowhere in their site!!!
Does anyone have an idea what's up, or a fix for this wackiness?
Your help is deeply appreciated.

And Adaptec says...

Apparently, Quicksilvers will not startup from a drive connected to a PCI card if they are forcefully rebooted or if a firmware update is done. Adaptec suggested the following wich worked very good. I just hope I don't have to do this twice a week.

Restart your system , as soon as the screen goes black hold down the following 4 keys
all at the same time

Command(Open Apple) _- Option - _o - f

up should pop a white screen saying Welcome to Open Firmware..."
at the prompt type

printenv

a list of items should come up, look for fcode-debug? is it set to false false
if so type

setenv _fcode-debug? true

at the next _prompt type and verify it is now true false

printenv

at the next _prompt type
mac-boot
