Whenever I start QuickTime 10.0 player, videos that play skip frames every 5 seconds or so. Then I discovered that even when nothing is playing, everything on the computer skips. When I move the mouse around the curser skips. When I open other applications, they skip. When playing videos using Front Row, that skips as well. When I close QuickTime, the issue stops.

When I use DVD player, video plays back perfect (without QuickTime open).

I looked at the activity monitor and everything looks normal.

I'm baffled. I seems like just the simple task of opening QuickTime 10 creates some sort of CPU pause or something.

Any ideas?

What are your specs?

Yes, the 9400m.

Hmm...I've got the 9400m on my alu MacBook running 10.6 and I have zero issues. Do you have any customization (shape shifter, etc) running? Is it a fresh installation of 10.6? (I had huge problems upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6 on my Mini 1.66 Core Duo, had to drop it back down to 10.5).

Can't believe nobody else is chiming in!
