quicktime 7 left/right balance

Under QT6, when I wanted to shift the audio balance, I just clicked on the video timeline and there were controls for audio balance. In QT7, it seeks like I need to open the A/V Controls panel, and there's a slider for left-right balance, but it doesn't work for me! Is this a problem for the rest of you? Am I doing anything wrong?

I need to shift the balance because I have a video file that is biligual--Japanese through the right speaker and Chinese through the left. I guess I could plug in my earphones and only use the left one, but I'm looking for a better solution

hmmm doesn't work for me either. In fact none of controls do. Except for speed.

overall volume controls works for me. can't tell if the bass/treble sliders work. speed works

anyone else? your QT7 work or not?
