Quicktime "a file or directory could not be found"

I've written before with some issues I've had with QuickTime, but this one is new.

I was recording a video with my iSight camera using QuickTime. When I stopped the recording, there was an error message that said, "a file or directory could not be found." And indeed the file is not in the folder I had selected Quicktime to record to. There weren't even any temporary files where Quicktime normally keeps them under var/folders . . . (it's a long path name)

Anyone know where the orphan file may have ended up?
