who here uses quicktime as a video player?

if poss, i would like to keep as many apps as poss made by apple when i switch - apple's strength over windows is that everything is made by apple from hardware to os to software on the os.

does quicktime play all video files (i.e. dvd's, downloaded videos encripted in all kinds of different codecs)?

what additional codecs do i need to download?

many thanks

I use it for almost everything, except DVDs which you can use Apple's DVD Player for. You need to download some plugins though, like DivX or 3ivX, to view avi files, for example.

Currently 5.2.1 of Divx gives QT a lot of bugs and the devs have expressed no interest in fixing it in that version. Expect a fix when version 6 is released.
