Quicktime Codecs ??????

I have downloaded the Xvid and DivX codec components from the quicktime site and placed then in the Quicktime folder in Library but still won't play .avi files etc.

any help greatly appreciated.thanks.

I never use QuickTime, I just use VLC. Check out Perian for QT solutions as well.
