I do not see the Quicktime controller for a gif animation when I publish my iWeb page. I can see the controller when I 'save' the page. But it disappears when I 'publish' the page. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
I am using iWeb '08 version 2.0.4.
This only happens when I use Insert->Choose->file.gif. Do I need to use the Insert->HTML Snippet option and enter the EMBED HTML code for this gif file?
-----------------
I had to convert file.gif to file.mov in order to get the Quicktime controller to show up on the published page. It looks like the Insert->Choose->file.gif is treating file.gif like a photo, not as an animated gif file. So, it looks like the Quicktime section of 'inspector' is ignored for this image when the iWeb page is published.
I had to purchase Quicktime Pro for $30 to convert the animated gif file from file.gif to file.mov. You will be given 'registration to' and 'registration code' information that must to entered in the Quicktime Player->Registration window in order to enable the 'PRO' features of Quicktime Player. You should then see the 'Save As' button highlighted after you register your Quicktime Pro information. Use the File->Open File button to open your animated gif file. Then click on the Save As button, select 'Save as a self-contained movie' and click on Save to get the file.mov file. I then imported file.mov into iPhoto using the File->Import to Library button. Once file.mov was in iPhoto I was then able to insert file.mov into the iWeb page. The Quicktime controller now shows up for file.mov when I publish the iWeb page.
