quicktime error need help

So I keep getting this error while playing an assortment of vids on my new mac pro in quicktime. The video plays for a random amount of time, but eventually the video freezes while the audio remains playing. If I try to force quit the entire system then freezes until a hard reset. Here is the error message from the console every time it happens "/Applications/QuickTime Player.app/Contents/MacOS/QuickTime Player[8855]: AVF error: Gen6IntelGVAQueryAVDCommandStatus, TimeOut. Resetting." I am not having much success searching for this error on the boards or google. Anyone have any idea what is going on with this?

FYI, this is on the 2011 15" mbp. I am posting it here though as I find the mac pro forum to have the most informed posters of all the forums I frequent. Thanks!
