Quicktime Exporting

I have tried to export a 3 minutes and 44 second .avi movie into H.264, MPEG-4, Amination and Movie but it appears to take hours to export in each platform (Ive Already waited 3 hours for it to export but the bar only got 10% of the way) . Im using a Powerbook G4 12" 1.5 ghz.

Have you tried any alternatives? There are loads of good ones out there. The one I use is iSquint. Look it up on macupdate.
