Sorry if this has been asked recently. I tried searching but to no avail.

Anyways, I've been watching videos (mainly mp4s) on Quicktime player for as long as I can remember, but now I'm getting a black screen on every movie I have. Sound works, but the video itself won't show. Any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks for any help

Are you getting a totally black video, or are you getting no video track at all? Those are two different things.

If you are getting a totally black video, that sounds like something that happened with certain versions of iSquint and some of its "cousins." Some of them had encoding glitches that made the videos turn totally black in iTunes and/or Quicktime Player. I think the makers of iSquint released a video "debreaker" before the product was discontinued, or you could also try re-re-encoding the files using some other program.

If you are getting no video track at all, then you are missing whatever video codec was used to encode that video.
