So I have couple videos that are under .mp4 .avi and .amv filenames and for the life of me I can't get any of them to play even with flip4mac and perian plugins. Please guys give me at least a hint in the right direction.

Analyse a sample of every video format (.mp4, .avi, .amv (?)) with VideoSpec (I prefer that, though it hasn't been updated since 11/2009), MediaInfo Mac (10/2010) or MediaInfo (10/2010, there is a Mac OS X version to download, VideoSpec and MediaInfo Mac are using the same library as MediaInfo) and post the results here.
