It just happened out of the blue but when i downloaded VLC player it works find so im guessing is just a codec issue could it have spoiled, what should i do?

Try downloading Flip4Mac which allows you to see many formats in your quicktime player (AVI, WMV, etc) works very well for me... Download it here... http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm
