does anyone else ever have the issue of quicktime only playing a small segment of an mpg and then thinking the file is finished? (e.g. a 45mb average resolution file lasting 6 seconds)

any ideas on how to rectify this?

thanks a lot

45 millibits

I think that happens if there's something wrong with the way the movie is encoded. I'm not sure if this is Quicktime's fault or the encoder program's fault, but mpg movies made with some of the encoders out there just don't play well with Quicktime.

Since it quits after just 6 seconds it's more likely that it is a such an encoder conflict.

It has to do with how the file was joined together (usually with a PC mpeg editor) - and QT has trouble with non-standard mpegs, just use VLC as mentioned above.
