Quicktime only playling like the first 5 seconds of a movie

My quicktime is only playing the first 5 seconds of a movie... why!? The movie is like 1.5 hrs long. Is it to due with a setting or something?

Have you tried another video player like VLC to see whether it is Quicktime's fault or just the video file? If it plays in VLC then probably its Quicktime's fault. But if it doesn't then almost certainly it's your video file that is corrupt.
