Hello all,

Running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 on both late 2011 models of MBP 17" and Mini. When click on .avi files, a window with a progress bar shows that the file is converting but then I get an error message stating "QuickTime Player can't open avi.".

I appreicate your feedback.

You might be able to covert the AVI to MP4 with Handbrake so it will play with Quicktime. However there are numerous implementations of AVI so it may not be playable on a Mac.

Thanks! @pacmania1982, @mpainesyd
I'll take a look, at both...

Anyone have experience to share with "Free MP4 Converter", in App store?

Also, how can I find, which implementations of AVI it may be and which ARE playable on a Mac?

I think you mean that there's one implementation of AVI, it being a container format, that can contain media encoded by many different codecs.
