QuickTime Player hasn't had many changes since Snow Leopard, to my memory, but the version in Ventura (QuickTime Player version Version 10.5, build 1148.4.1) seems to have several.

So far, I've found…

• It seemed no longer to be possible to use the "copy" command to transfer an image of the current frame to the clipboard, though I've been able to do it at least once since observing that (perhaps it was restored in Ventura 13.0.1?).

• "Zoom in" and "zoom out" (the mapped commands for command-minus and command-plus) now zoom the movie's frame within the movie's window rather than resizing the movie's window, which then becomes scrollable. (Resizing the window can now be done with the command key plus the square bracket keys.)

• Sometimes when playing a video for a few seconds without interacting with the system (such as moving the cursor), all onscreen content outside the movie's window is replaced with solid black until the next interaction. I haven't worked out the conditions under which that happens.

• The "pinch" gesture on the Magic Trackpad can be used to enter and exit full screen.

• It sounds like at least one user can no longer open files in older formats.

I've found most of these jarring, and even if all of them were to be reverted, the changes seem to indicate that QuickTime Player was in some sort of state of flux for reasons which aren't clear. Any thoughts or additional things you've found?

1 - They added a new OCR option to copy text, probably it's interfering with the frame copy, might want to send a feedback.

2 - That's new, the reuse of the existing keyboard shortcuts is mildly annoying.

3 - Never seen such behaviour, probably a bug.

4 - It's been possible for a looong time, probably since 10.7.

5 - That was changed in 10.15 or earlier, when they removed the classic QuickTime Framework, and it's 32-bit decoders.
