Quicktime Player Controls Vanishing?

I have another weird one. My Quicktime player (fresh install of 10.8.4) appears. I can adjust them, then they do their normal fade, but then I can't get them to fade back in. They're actually there, and clickable, but no visible.

Is there a trick to this?
