Quicktime playing AVI movies... please help a noob?

hey guys, i have just downloaded some movie torrents, and they are in AVI, but when i want to watch them, it's just a white screen and a pop up says i may need to download some extra things for quicktime to be able to view them.

problem is, when i click on continue, it redirects me to apple's site which list all of the down loads for quicktime... (this is the site it directs me to:-

there are so many things here, i don't know what i need to download and i don't want to have to DL them all, any ideas?

ps. it's not quicktime pro, just the normal one! and sorry if this is in the wrong forum!

Chances are if you install Perian >http://perian.org/< the movies will play just fine.

Failing that, have a look at VLC >http://www.videolan.org/<, as this contains load of codecs, an will pretty much play anything, even in full screen
