Hi... I can't seem to be able to get QuickTime to run at all within safari or internet explorer. It'll go to load a clip, the beachball of death will appear for 1-2 minutes, then it'll try and download software it says is missing from the quicktime server, but fail. I've tried trashing the preference files, and reinstalling... nothing seems to work and it's really bugging me! I happened to need to reinstall the OS and it STILL didn't work after that :S

Any more ideas?

When you reinstalled the OS, did you do an archive & install preserving users? Have you logged in as another user and tried to use it?

I didn't do the archive&install - which is why it was weird!!

It's normally ok playing other files at the moment actually! The problem comes when I go on the Apple Trailers website, for example...

i have the same problem. something like "quicktime cannot find the plug-in in the quicktime server...". but the preferences says, that i should be able to watch avi files.
