Quicktime Plugins

Alright so, with Quicktime 7.1.1 you can export movies so that they have different file extensions. As in, you can export as .avi, .mp4, .wmv etc.

But i noticed you can't export as .mpg.

So, is there a plugin available that allows you to do this?

Ah, finally! Right, I think I'll bother with this update then - thanks for the heads up.

Alas, not afaik. You'd think it would be an obvious option for Apple to put in, but no. Try ffmpegX. Cleaner and Compressor can do it too, but they aren't free.

[OT: btw, anyone know how to get Compressor to export mpgs bigger than 320x240?]

You cannot export a file to .wmv unless you have a plugin like Flip4Mac.

Yeah i just realized that, i guess i took it for grated that it just came with Quicktime, but 'tis not so.

I'll look into ffmpeX and that other one too.

ffmegX does not do *.wmv.

I'm not trying to encode to .wmv

I'm trying to encode from .wmv to .mpg.

As .mpg is a lot more compatible than .wmv

Cleaner and Compressor can do it too, but they aren't free.

[OT: btw, anyone know how to get Compressor to export mpgs bigger than 320x240?]

I ended up going with a Compressor app called MegaPeg Pro. Works for me.
