Howdy.

I could do with Quicktime Pro and the mpeg component, but I don't want to buy them now and by the end of the month find that Leopard has been released and with it Quicktime 8.

Could some of you Mac followers offer me your experience and say how likely it is that a new Quicktime release is on the cards, please?

Have some smilies in advance :) :) :)

I think that it is due for an upgrade fairly soon and not just because of Leopard. NAB (the big conference for video and such) is coming up and this is where Apple often updates their programs like Final Cut Pro. There is a lot of talk that Final Cut Studio is going to be update at NAB and I wouldn't be suprised at all if they updated QT to coincide with that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that NAB happens in the middle of April.

If you can't wait that long, check out a program called ffmpeg. It's a free program that allows you to convert to various formats.

Good Luck.
