I have two monitors and I routinely play video on the second monitor. I do this by opening the video file and choosing View > Present Movie and choosing the second monitor from the dialog, choosing Full Screen from the pop-up and clicking Play. Up until now this has worked fine. The movie plays on the second monitor and continues playing even when I switch to a different app and continue working on the primary monitor.

Now all of a sudden, the movie plays fine on the second monitor only as long as Quicktime is in the front application. If I switch to a different app, the movie on the second screen suddenly flies back to the primary monitor, resumes its original size, and continues playing on the primary monitor.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

You upgraded to 7.2. Open QuickTime Player's preferences, and under full screen, enable "Remain in Full screen when player is inactive".
