Quicktime & Safari issues in 10.9

I'm trying to play videos in Mavericks' Quicktime but instead of playing the videos like in ML, it tries to convert them. This was with two separate files, an avi and mp4. Anyone else seeing these issues?

Also, while browsing Google Images, going down to the external site and coming back, Safari turns into a blank white screen. Something ain't right...
