Hi
a stupid question:
I need a newer version of quicktime for my iMac, but having connected up to the internet, I can't find any way to download anything except the most recent version(which doesn't work for me because I've got OS 9). I tried running the updating control panel, but it says that all my applications are up to date. I tried running the quicktime updater, with the same result (although I only have version 4.1). I've tried following links to websites which mention older versions (I need at least 6.0.2), but none of the websites seem to open properly. This ought to be easier, huh? (And I know those downloads are out there, as I've no difficulty in accessing them with the PCs here at Uni... ) Any hints? Easy solutions? ...Please?

Robin

I believe that Quicktime 5 was the last version available for OS9, and Quicktime 6.x was OS X only.

EDIT: OOps, nope, I'm wrong.

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime603formac.html

However, this is just an update for QT on OS 9. The QT download may no be readily avilable as OS 9 has reached end of life support.

Actually that page is massively confusing:

About this update
This update contains version 6.0.3 of QuickTime, available for users of Mac OS 8.6 and Mac OS 9.x.

Followed by:

System Requirements
Mac OS X
Not supported

Have you tried this?

It is Quicktime 6.0.3 and it says that it runs on Mac OS9.x, so hopefully it'll work for you.

EDIT: Oops, just spotted the same thing as yellow - it's an update only. I'll keep rummaging around to see if the original download is available. It's probaly worth trying this link anyway to see what happens. The page is not very clear.

Same size as earlier linked, it's probably the same update only. I'll be damed if I can find an official download from Apple.

oh well...

Thanks guys,
I'll try with one of those anyway, just in case.
cheers,
Robin
