Quicktime widescreen export does not import to iMovie HD Help!

Okay guys here's the problem.

I exported various clips from quicktime using ntsc DV 16:9 settings. Everytime I try to import to iMovie HD the program pillarboxes the video. Anyone know how to fix this? (Final Cut does the same thing).
