Quicktime won't play - why?

I have a new pc, 16GB ram, Win 7 64bit, all up to date... but I can't get the new iPhone / Watch / keynote quicktime vids on Apple's homepage to play at all. It shows a gray Apple logo with the vid control bar at bottom but cannot get it to play. I've tried in Chrome, Firefox and IE. Nothing! I've tried repairing Quicktime and restarting pc.

Why is Apple so in love with their monolithic quicktime when the rest of the world uses other software for web video playback? :mad::mad::mad:
