I noticed that with Quicktime X you can now convert video for viewing on iphone and touch etc... Do you guys know if it will convert .avi files? or does it just take M4V, MP4 files and format them for the iphone screen? Also for anyone who has already tested this how fast is it?

I am curious because I currently use Toast Titanium to convert movies and tv shows and it takes a really long time.

You could do this with Perian and Quicktime 7 Pro in Leopard. Wasn't fast by any standard though.

I'm not sure if Perian is Quicktime X / Snow Leopard ready.

I read somewhere that Perian wasn't even snow leopard ready but I'm sure they will release an update shortly.

what is the process by the way? I have perian installed but never really used it
