I decided I’m going to try the eGPU path to reduce fan noise on my 16” MBP w external monitor. However after a lot of research, i realized the Vega 56 is out of stock everywhere, which sucks because people seem to say it’s very quiet and powerful. What are the equivalent cards that are supported by Mac and actually available??

it's been a while since i was dabbling in eGPUs, but afaik unless you do a modification, most eGPU boxes sans BlackMagic are not quiet.

I bought a 2nd hand Vega64 and put it in a Razer Core X. I stuck it under the desk and ran a 2m Thunderbolt 3 cable up to the laptop. It's quiet enough that I barely notice the fans running on the eGPU most of the time.

The speed increase for my workflow - Adobe Premiere on 2 external monitors is quite noticable

Do you have a link for the 2M TB3 cables? I keep getting crap that work intermittently or only 1M.

I'm trying to sell a Vega Frontier Edition 16GB HBM2 GPU ... pm me if you're interested (in the U.S.), I was going to post on the marketplace.
