So I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but after the Yosemite upgrade, Time Machine decided to do a full backup of all 218GB on my boot drive. My suspicion is because I repaired permissions on the drive from a different Mavericks partition before applying the upgrade.

Nevertheless, the backup was slllllow - we're talking about the increment going up by 10mb every couple of minutes.

Looking at Activity Monitor, finder was consistently using about 50% CPU, and backupd barely above 6%.

Quitting Finder, and backupd shot up, often up to 90%, trading with mdworker / mdstores getting up over 50% - and the backup transfer rate well over 10-40mb/sec.

Relaunched Finder, and it's behaving, sitting at 0 CPU.

Anyway - finally found something I like about Yosemite - rotating background pictures stay in sync with each other on multiple displays.

*edit* spoke too soon - the pictures drifted out of sync eventually.
