So I enrolled in a Media class at school which (highly) recommended buying some kind of Adobe Suite (and at $500 bucks for the Master Suite, which retails at $2,499, who wouldn't?).
So I went and bought the master suite, installed it, and went to open a PDF in safari off of the web, and nothing happened. It didn't open like it usually did with the little mouse over menu at the bottom. It didn't even open at all.
A dialogue box came up asking me to find some adobe thing (reader or equivalent program it said), which I did, and it did eventually open up the PDF, however it was MUCH slower than Leopard's native pdf handling in safari, so I decided I wanted to go back to the way it was before. I also didn't like the fact that I was using Adobe software when I used (and liked) the mac software much more and better.
So I eventually found the Adobe plugin for Safari, (with no help of Apple support whatsoever), and I deleted it swiftly.. (Actually I zipped it and put it away just in case I ever needed it). And Safari went back to opening PDFs nicely and quickly.
I guess the point of this is to say that for a freaking $2500 set of programs, you'd expect it to work the first time you start it up right? You'd also expect it to not mess with the perfectly fine Mac OS X apps that work better that it does...
But other than that and the adobe apps running somewhat slow (on a new MBP nothing should really run slow), I have nothing else to complain about...
In fact I really do like the adobe programs, except I have no idea what half (actually most) of them do. And I don't like how the installer created 20 different folders in my applications folder. One "Adobe" folder would have sufficed. (See attached pic)
So if anybody could point me in the right direction to some GOOD tutorials for the adobe products that would be lovely. I know a simple google search would come up with a ton of results, but I don't feel like trying every one until I find one that's nice to use and that works, so if you guys have any suggestions let me know... Thanks in advance.
