That's how you quit apps. Same function as holding down the home button on old iPhones.

a) hold power button till slide comes up
b) let go of power button
c) hold home button until app quits

they needed to change it because of voice control....holding down home now brings you to voice control...the new way to quit apps has been posted above

this thread has nothing to do with what you are asking, but try these things:

do a hard reset of the phone...hold down the sleep button and hold button until the iphone shuts off and then turns on again

if this doesn't work, plug into itunes and do a restore

yea i had this exact same question as i read this thread...how? i open and close many different apps (games, txt, safari, maps) all the time and my battery life has always been more or less similar every day

you do the method of holding down the top button then pressing the home button for each app?

I usually just press the home button when I'm finished with something. hmm..

Just press home. It closes the app. The above method is for when your programs freeze or if you're SUPER anal about closing programs to make sure there are no running processes.
