Quitting the screen command

I use the screen command in the terminal to use my usb to serial device.

However, I have no idea how to quit once I am in it.

according to documentation I should

Control-a Control-\ Kill all windows and terminate screen(quit)

ok, what does this mean?

Type the control key, followed by a hyphen, and then a. Then do the same thing with - \ ?

Or does it mean Control a

or does it mean something else? There are 6-7 different ways to read this.
