Woooooo Hooooooo! The wait is over! I'm getting a new MP as soon as the store comes back up. Just wondering, though, is the 2600XT any good? I don't know much about video cards.

I'm wondering if these new video cards will work on the previous generation Mac Pro "Classic" like mine......

I'm wondering if there is a chance in hell that I can downgrade this beast back to tiger so I can run apps that don't yet work on leopard.

Anyone got the price for update to 8800GT? Store is still down :(

I'm sure it will be full retail, so $300 for a while. I'm just excited that a fairly up to date card is available, even though the 9800 are just about out. it's not like when the 1900s came out for the mac pro when those were already a year old.

I'm just wondering if this card is ideal for Final Cut Studio (as its not listed on their ideal video cards on Apple's web site)

2600XT has UVD and is generally cooler/quieter than the 8800GT

But the 8800GT has its own video decode in it and honestly, it is superior in every aspect (performance isn't even worth comparing, 8800GT is anywhere from 5-10x faster)

defo better to get the 8800GT if you want to play any games in WinXP/bootcamp - also it's just a better card. For a $200/£130 upgrade, its a good price - you couldn't buy one in the UK for less than £150 and i've heard they're very difficult to get hold of in the US at all.

With Apple offering 4 of them in the machine, it is likely the low energy version of the Card.

So the 8800GT is likely to be a big boost.
