I don't know if this is a hint that they will start selling it, but amazon.com is listing the Radeon 5870.

Currently they are only linking to Apple's online store, but maybe in the near future they would sell it themselves. Would help with sales tax for certain buyers. They used to sell the 4870 and the GTX 285.

It clearly says:
Available at external website Apple Store.

They have quite a few of those on Amazon; they're essentially ads.

You could be right.

However for the 4870 upgrade card, Amazon used to sell it. But when they stopped selling it, they put that "available at external website" message too, which is still there now:

Point being, they may have plans to stock it in the near future.

Could also be that Apple is getting ready to sell it, and is getting the Amazon links set up.

I'll bet that it'll ship at the same time as the 5770, which should be shipping soon.

I am pretty sure this has been up for awhile now. I think Amazon does this for everything on the Apple store now. Sorry to say it probably is not an indication of when Apple will make it available.

Let us just hope it is available soon.

This kind of thing came up for the Dell U2311H on Amazon. Then they finally had a seller, but that only lasted like a week.
