Hey,
I have an old 400MHz Sawtooth G4 with a defective Rage 128 Pro. Now, I've found a 128MB Radeon 9500 for PCs for $30. Is $30 worth it or should I wait and try to get something a bit better? Please answer quickly as I was able to reduce the price but ofer (was $35 originally) is only on for ~45 hours. I plan to flash it via VNC in my Mac as I don't have a PC to flash it with.

I can also get a 9600XT with BGA RAM chips for the same price. (But I've heard they're not AGP 2x compatible)

Thanks,
Aurora

I don't think the 9500 is compatible with 2x AGP slots.

For a cheap plug and play option, grab a Mac edition Radeon 9000 or Geforce 4MX. You can probably get either for under $15 If you want to flash, get a Radeon 9800 or Geforce 6200.

Heh, never mind, I took the high road and got a Radeon 9700 128MB for $44 along with a Geforce 9500, an AGP card and another PCI-E card which is pretty decent considering 9700s go for like $40 on eBay.

Mac Edition 9700?

I'm not sure if a flashed PC edition will work in a 2x AGP slot. Actually, I'm not positive about the Mac edition.

If it's a Mac edition, you got it for a steal.

PC versions should work as they support AGP 2x and it should work as per the flashing website. Only the 9600 doesn't work in 2x slots AFAIK
