I've read something about how the fan is noisy. Is that an older version of the card, or is this still a problem?

Thanks.

I have been using my new G5 with the 9800XT for about a week now. The whole machine is very quiet during normal use.

Unless you bought a 3rd party 9800XT, Apple uses ATI's reference design, so it'll look like this (w/ ADC on the Mac version).

they're not useing that card because it blocks the pci card slot and that one dose not

and it looks like there are only pictures of the 9800 pro on xlr8

I find if the ambient temperature of the room is above 80 degrees (as it has a tendency to get in New Orleans), the 9800XT is the noisiest part of my G5.

Otherwise, even while playing 3D intensive games, the whole machine produces a quiet whirring sound at the worst.
