just a question.

what if i got 2 portable hard drives. wich both have 2x firewire 800. and i hook them up to a macbook through daisylinking. would i be able to get double read and writing speeds when i set them as raid 0? Or does that not work through daisylinking?

greetings stef mesman

I assume you mean daisy chaining, right?

The bottleneck with today's hard drives is Firewire, which has a maximum throughput of about 80MB/s, which can be saturated by a single drive. Striping two drives will therefore not increase the throughput of your drives.
