The other day I created a 2TB RAID0 Array to use as Scratch Disk for FCP on my 2010 Mac Pro.

Disk: WD RE4 500GB 7200RPM 64MB Cache. (4 X 500GB)
Raid Card: ARC 1212

Here is the BlackMagic Disk Test Screenshot

Let me know your comments/suggestions/feedback or anything else I should do to improve the performance to edit 1080i/p ProRes 422/LT footage.

Mac Pro Specs:
2010 Mac Pro
2 X 2.4 Ghz Westmere
14GB 1066 Mhz RAM
640GB System Disk
2TB Scratch Disk (RAID0)

Thanks guys!

There really isn't much in the FCP preferences to change. Just make sure that all your media, as well as all of your caches and render scratch disk are located on the RAID array. That should do the trick.

Please tell me how you installed physically ARC-1212 in MacPro Mid 2010 ?

Personally I would RAID 5 it for a total of 1.5TB. Specially if any of this video means anything to you. If one of those drives go down everything is lost. I cut 12 streams of Pro Res proxy clips multicammed made from r3d files. I was able to open sync cut the music video with all streams running simultaneously in FCP running a RAID 5.

I've cut plenty of streams of Pro Res 422 simultaneously without a hiccup on this RAID 5.
