My mid-2012 Macbook Pro, which a week ago received a new SSD drive as replacement for mwas charging when rain came through an open window and flooded my desk. I founf my MBP sitting in a puddle. I have a plastic cover on the keyboard which i wiped down, then shut the laptop down.
The next day, stupid me thought it was dry so i frantically backed up my data. Then the keyboard and trackpad slowly acted up so i shut the mbp down, turned it upside down, covered it with paper napkins and buried it in rice as dessicant.
1. How soon should i bring it to the repair guy? Do i let it sit for 2-3 days to dry things out, or do i bring it in ASAP? I don’t think i have the guts nor the tools to open the back cover and take out the battery.
2.Repair guy said over the phone that keyboard most likely needs replacement. I wonder if the new SSD will suffer damage as well.
3. What’s the prognosis for this?
Thanks.

The first thing you should do is disconnect the battery and leave the bottom cover off for a few days.

There's probably moisture trapped inside and leaving the bottom cover off will help it dry out faster. It's possible that the keyboard and trackpad will work again after all the moisture is gone.
