I have a 2012 MacBook Pro. A few months ago in May, I updated from Lion to Mavericks. Ever since I updated, I get the rainbow spinning wheel a few times daily and I have to shut down my computer manually. Force quit does not work. I can move the spinning wheel but nothing can click or work. I updated my Mavericks and it still didn't help. What can I do???

A couple of things to try would be to back up your data and do a fresh install of Mavericks. If you are still running into problems you may want to upgrade to an SSD. The spinning hard drive really holds that machine back. The SSD would give it new life and you would notice a vast difference in speed all around.
