Raise call volume with software update ?

Can apple adjust the call volume with a software update to make it louder ? Can this be done or is it a hardware thing

The sound from notifications is very loud on the same speaker when is on max , much louder then a voice call

I certainly hope so. I agree it's way too quiet.

I would imagine that the sound is limited by both the S/W (so that it doesn't distort) and the hardware itself.

A software patch *may* help, but at the risk of increasing distortion and possibly damaging the speaker

Should be relatively easy to do. All they have to do is increase the voltage to the speaker.

Oh, wait. . battery life ...
