iv read that my mid 2012 MBP can run on 8gb of ddr3 ram and iv also read online and on whirlpool that it can run 16gb of ram?

how do i know what one is true ??
I'm currently running 8gb of ram and all is fine but can it run 16gb or not ??

i just want an honest answer

Oh yeah another ram thread!

I assume you have the regular non-retina MBP? In which case yes it supports 16gb. But why do that if 8gb runs fine?

It supports up to 32GB of RAM if you can find 16GB SO-DIMMs to use.

Does your computer run fine now? If you do, no need to upgrade.

If you have doubts, no need to upgrade.

The mid-2012 ones can support 16GB without any problems.

And whether you need 16GB or not......read here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1730485/
