Hi all,

I just bought a late 2011 15" MBP...and with it, an 8GB ram kit from MacSales.
Now, I have that extra 4GB that came with the Macbook Pro. What am I going to do with it??
I'm thinking to install it it on my sister's macbook.
It's a late 2008 Macbook (unibody, but before they renamed the 13" unibody macbook to Macbook Pros.) I realise that the macbook used a different type of memory, but is there a chance the new RAM is backwards compatible??

Thank you all in advance!

Phil

If your sister's MB already has 2x2GB SODIMMs installed there won't be any more slots open to install the extra RAM you have. And if you upgrade from 2GB to 4GB, you'll still be stuck with the old SODIMMs.

I just sold my 2x2GB sticks on eBay. $7.50 plus shipping.

See for $7.50 I'd rather just give them to my sister and scrap the old !gb x 2 ram sticks lol.
My main concern is if they'll work (stable?). Seeing as theyre different speeds (1333Mhz vs 1066Mhz)

Thanks

As long as the voltage is the same the 1333 should work fine. Faster RAM will usually downclock fine but there's the odd exception. If it's unstable then swap the RAM back.
