I've just upgraded my MBP Memory to 8GB (2x4GB) and thought if using the old ones to fill the 2 empty slots in my iMac.

Not sure whether they are compatible, as stated in the title; MacBook Pro 5,3 2009 and iMac 11,3 2010.

Thanks

you told us nothing about the ram.

The specs are on apples website. If they're the same then plug it in and see.

Probably not. The 2010 iMacs used faster memory than the 09 MBP, so it may cause issues, or it may just cause the existing RAM to clock itself down to the slower speed.

I just checked, and regardless whether it is gonna work, I don't want to risk two different ram models.

MBP09: SO-DIMMs - 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
iMac10: SO-DIMMs - 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM

I am not that much into hardware, but macsales suggests this list of rams as upgrade. However I found this ram available at ebay and less expensive. Is it safe to use it rather than the owc one?

Either will work. There's nothing to risk. Plug it in and see. The slower MBP ram will make the imac ram run at a lower speed but you probably wouldn't notice the difference.

Don't buy ram from ebay.

You can get good ram prices at newegg.com
